The mice have taken over Camp Weasel til Spring as our Rifle hunt officially ended Tues. morning. We had 7 weasels in camp again this year. Weasels Larry,Gregg,Joel,Ryan,Mike and Brian & Cole. When the dust cleared at noon on Sunday, we had a 10,8,6 and 4 pointer hanging from the buck pole. Gregg got the 10, Mikey got the 8 & 6, and Joel got the 4. With a little luck I could have one hanging also. Hit one during the snowstorm on Sat. afternoon but couldn't trail it due to heavy snowfall. We got about 5 inches of snow from 2:00 til 8:00 P.M. Needless to say 4 bucks were enough, especially after butchering for about 4 hours on Monday. All in all it was a great season , we had visits frm our neighbor from the south, Phil Kluge, Oscar, and Doug and Jordon from the now disbanded Gresh Camp. We saw many friends at the Creek and stopped and talked to the Denvers on Monday night. We tried to stop by Bob DeMasters camp Mon. night, but it was dark. We hit the Klatt Camp Mon. night for thr football game and had a nice visit with Marlin,Arnie,Jason,Earl and the crew. As usual there are lots of good memories to keep us going til next year. Despite our good luck, the overall consensus was that the deer herd was slightly down this year. Part of this could be due to the ever increasing wolf and population which could be having an affect on the fawn crop. Our neighbors to the East, the Neely camp and to the South, Klugys camp have both had multiple wolf sightings and kill sites on their land. Well that about wraps it up for deer season. Next up spring turkeys.
