Feb 20th Trip to Camp

A lively band of weasels headed north for our opening trip of 2026. An earlier trip had been cancelled due to minus 37 chill factor. Weasels Larry,Gregg,Ryan,Tom,Carson,Chad and of course our side kick Daffer. Plans were to check things out, do a little ice fishing and a little drinking. I'm happy to say that everything went perfectly as planned. The fish fry at the Creek was excellent, as was the liquor that accompanied it. Sat. morning I instructed the guys on proper ice fishing technique then Daffer and I returned to bed while they tried their luck on Largon Lake. They followed directions perfectly and returned with a beautiful 32 inch northern and about a 14 inch bass. Carson claimed honors on catching the big ones. Probably true because its hard to land big ones with a beer in one hand. They caught several fish and lost a couple of big ones. All in all a very successful fishing trip. Sat afternoon was spent at the meat raffle at the Creek. I think we won 6 times and brought some nice packages of meat home. Once again the drinks were delicious and plentiful. Our meals at the cabin were excellent, ranging from soup to venison to assorted breakfast options. Chad was in charge of hors d'oeuvres and after cutting the cheese numerous times, came up with a splendid sausage and cheese platter. After much big talk Sat night, the guys decided to get up at 5 in the morning and head out to the lake again. When Daffer and I woke up at 7, we were surprised to find they had already been to the lake and returned to bed Must have been very quiet, cause we didn't even hear them leave or return. As usual, we had a chance to visit with our neighbor Danny and several friends at the Creek. I'd have to rate the trip as excellent and can't wait to head north again.
