2025 RIFLE SEASON

As the saying goes, there is no joy in weasel town. The mighty hunters have struck out. Friday found an excited bunch of weasels headed north to do heavy damage to Camp Weasel's deer herd' Weasels included Weasel Larry (a non hunter after 75 years of hunting), Weasels Gregg, Ryan, Carson, Mike and Chad who was coming Sat. morning and of course Daffy dog. After the number of bucks around during the rut hunt and on camera, we had high hopes of reducing 2 or 3 of them to possession. No such luck. the hunters could have had a few does, but as always they were a last resort at the end of the season. Deer were simply not moving. A couple bucks were seen at a distance, but not a single shot was fired the entire season. As always, the trip was great. the highlight of the season was having Weasel Mike back at camp after probably 15 years of absence. Weasel Chad also joined us for a day and was a great addition. We ate well, from the Fish Fry at the Creek to the rib- eyes courtesy of Mikey on Sat night.I had a nice visit with our neighbors Dan and Alex Beecroft and the Nelson gang Oscar,Harlan and Owen 'stopped over Sat nite for a visit. As always, trips to Hidden Tavern at the Creek provided lot of laughs and beverages. As I've said in the past, a great hunt is more than kills, but it's safe to say that their are a few disappointed weasels wandering around muttering under their breath. Wait til next year, Life is good, even better if you're a weasel.
