We couldn't have asked for better weather than we had this past weekend. Temperature ranged in the low 70s and no rain. Hunters this year were weasels Larry,Gregg,Ryan, and Joel W. who has been joining us from Green Bay the last few years. Joel is Gregg's neighgbor and fits in pretty good with the rest of us weasels. We were primarily hunting for horns this trip, but took one antlerless to be used for sausage. Most of us have 4 antlerless tags but will try for a few bucks during rifle season before filling a couple more. We saw plenty of deer, often as many as 8 or 9 at a sitting. Gregg and I both had bucks within range, but didn't get a shot off. As usual, we ate pretty good with steaks, brats, corned venison, and hot beefs to mention a few items. The guys had a few beers around, and magically a little Korbels and Jeros Old Fashion mix showed up. Hext trip will be rifle season and hopefully a couple of bucks hanging from the pole. Until then, remember life is good, even better if you're a weasel.
