Bear Hunt not what I hoped

Weasels Larry, Charlie and Sammy headed North on Tues. with high hopes of bagging a bear. Sammy wasn't supposed to be in on the bear hunt, but at the last minute a woodchuck decided to make a home under the dog barn and since I didn't have time to get rid of the woodchuck, Sammy got to come along. We arrived about noon and headed to the woods to prepare the blind, rebait the stump and retrieve the trail camera chip. I was a bit disapointed after reviewing the latest pictures from the camera as there was only one daytime picture. I had about 10 daytime pictures on my earlier chip. It appeared our only chance of getting a shot was early morning and late afternoon. Unfortunately this did not pay off as we did not have a single bear come in during shooting hours. From 10:00 PM til 2:00AM seemed to be their active feeding time. When we got up Wed. morning we did have a nice bear under the apple trees eating apples. He was borderline in size, definitely legal but a little smaller than I wanted to shoot. He spotted movement in the cabin and took off running, which saved me from having to make a decision on whether to try for him. Weasel Gene joined us Thursday afternoon and we had a nice dinner at County Line after hunting hours. Did get a chance to visit with the Pearsons, Marlin the Denvers and Walt and Elaine Hibbs. Also stopped at Gullys for a quick brew and some fun and laughter. Well I haven't given up yet, I'm going up the 19th to mix a little bear and deer hunting together.
