Weasel Gregg and I along with Remi and Daffy, spent last weekend getting our feet wet (literally] for the early bow season. We arrive Fri. and were immediately rained out of our evening hunt. Sat. was better, wet but at least not raining. At about 8:30 I had a nice little fork buck come by and stuck him pretty good. Gregg came over and we trailed him about 50yds. where we found him piled up. Gregg didn't see anything Sat. morning, but saw 6 in the afternoon. That was about the extent of our hunt. Gregg put some trail cameras out Sun. morning and took some measurements for rifle blind repairs. We were headed home by 10:30 in the morning. We socialized a bit on Fri. night by going to the creek for their fish fry which was excellent. We stopped at Klatts man cave on Sat. afternoon and had a good visit with Marlin, Arnie and Earl. Always good to see those guys. Next up, the rut hunt, which I can't get real excited about as I won't have a buck tag. But we need more venison, so hopefully the guys can knock a couple down, while I concentrate on a big doe. Until then, life is great, even better if you're a weasel.
