Weasels have a short but sweet trip north

On Wed. afternoon, Weasel Larry, Gregg and Mark along with faithful companion Sammy, headed North for a quick all purpose visit. The plan was for Gregg and Mark to terrorize Largon Lake, while Sammy and I did some much needed work around camp. I dropped them off at the lake late Wed. afternoon about 6:00 with plans to pick them up at 9:00. They caught just enough to keep their spirits up, keeping 4 bluegills over 7 inches and having some catch and release fun with some 25 inch northerns. Thursday went much better. They figured out the key to catching nice bluegills and ended up keeping about 25 nice ones. In addition Mark caught and released a nice 19 inch largemouth and Joel did the same on a 16 incher. The also had some in the 12 to 14 inch range. All in all they had a pretty decent outing. I was able to get the lawn mowed while they were fishing and also did a little staining on the cabin and some limb trimming on the driveway. Oscar had mowed the field so I did a little touch up mowing in close under the apple trees and around the salt lick. I was a bit disappointed with my bear pictures. Got 3 bear pictures and a couple if fischer pictures, but my batteries went dead too quickly to get more. There were deer all over the place. Thur. evening when I went to pick up the fishermen, I saw 17 deer between camp and Largon Lake. One huge buck in Geralds field. Looked like at least a 10 pointer with a nice wide rack. Still in velvet so he'll get bigger. Saw most everyone at the Creek Thurs. afternoon. We had pizza for supper early Thurs. afternoon before taking the guys back to Largon for evening fishing. Had a good talk with the Pearsons about their humming bird feeders. Unbelievable how many they get. Stopped at Gullys and had a good talk with him on Thurs. morning after dropping the guys at Largon. All in all a very nice trip. Would have liked to stay another day, maybe next time.
