On July 7th Weasels Larry and Gregg accompanied by weasel in training Carson and weasel dog Daffy headed to camp for a little fishing. Our favorite lake had frozen out about 4 years ago and we wanted to see how it was recovering. Things started badly when we tried to hook the boat trailer up and discovered the coupler on the trailer was broken. We ended up removing the boat from the trailer and slid it into the back of the truck. It rode well so we tied a red flag on the end and took off. We fished for about 2 1/2 hours and caught several very small bluegills. Carson did catch one nice keeper crappie about 10 inches but we threw him back. Lots of nice bullheads were there for the taking, but we didn't want them. Saturday morning was more of the same. I caught a real nice bluegill, but that was our only keeper, so we threw him back. In all we put in 5 hours on the lake and only had two keepers to show for it. other than the fishing it was a good trip. We got to visit with many of our friend at Indian Creek, got the lawn mowed and had a nice campfire Friday night. I identified several projects to take care of next trip which is shaping up to be July 27th. Our new electrical transformer is not in place, but there were little white flags around, indicating they are working on it. Anxious to get back up and make several small repairs we have to get done before bow season starts in Sept. Until then, life is good, even better if you're a weasel.
