Well another season is in the books and it definitely was not one of our better years. The first weekend had Weasels Larry,Gregg,Ryan,Joel and Carson all eager to shoot the big one. As the weekend came to a close, they were still all eager to shoot the big one. Despite seeing lots of nice bucks on the trail camera, they apparently stayed pretty much nocturnal. The few that did come out stayed pretty much out of range, except for the two Ryan missed. Sorry Ryan, just had to mention it. Weasel Jon did come up to camp for a non hunt visit and was able to join in on the social life and visit to the Creek. Second weekend went slightly better. Weasels Gregg,Ryan,Carson and Tom were up to give it one last try and Tom shot a nice little fork horn off my stand. Where was the little bastard the week before? The deer, not Tom,Lol. That brought the grand total for combined archery and rifle to 3 bucks. A normal year would be 5 or 6. Thats not to say that we didn't have a great time as usual, the success of a season is not measured by the number of kills, but my the fun and enjoyment of camp. A new TV was on site for watching football and the food and beverages were top notch as always. We had a chance to visit with our neighbors Dan and Alex and got to see all of our friends at the Creek. My jacket which I left at the Creek during the rut hunt was in their lost and found and now safely back home. Camp has been put to rest with 18 bags of Grampa Gus mouse repellant and several pounds of Tom Cat treats. As always life is good, even better if you're a weasel. Already looking forward to next year.
