I figured I had better get on the ball and get this report done before rifle season starts in 3 days.. Weasels Larry, Gregg, Ryan were the only archers up for rut this year. Camp was pretty solemn this year, as we had just lost a great weasel a few days earlier. Weasel Joel Westerfeld passed away unexpectedly at the age of 56. Joels funeral was Sat Nov 4th in Green Bay, so Gregg stayed in Green Bay for the funeral before coming up Sat nite. The rut hunt itself was not what we expected. After seeing some very nice bucks on camera almost daily, none volunteered to be shot. We saw a few does, and bucks at a distance but the buck pole was empty when Ryan and I headed home Sunday. Gregg stayed behind to hunt on Monday and did shot a nice little fork horn. We did have a nice time at the Creek and saw many of our friends. Had a good talk with our neighbor Danny who was recovering from having a little heart surgery but was feeling good. We have been truly blessed to have such a great neighbor. I can't begin to count the number of times he and his boys have bailed us out of trouble. One of the highlights of the trip was getting my hat and coat stolen at the Creek. I forgot it on the back of my chair when leaving after supper Fri nite, but didn't go back and get it as we were coming up Sat for the meat raffle and figured I would pick it up then. However we learned from the bar tender that no one turned it in. oh well I hope they're enjoying it. Hope the pair of glasses in the pocket were the right prescription. All in all another great trip to camp. Next up rifle season with 6 weasels planning to be in attendance. As always until then, life is good, even better if you're a weasel'
