Weasels Larry, Sammy and Charlie headed north Tuesday morning for a little work and a little play. We arrive at camp about noon, only to be put under a Tornado warning from 1:00 PM til 11:00 PM. That took care of the fishing for Tues. afternoon. I started mowing even tho we had standing water everywhere from about 3 inches of rain that morning. The lawn went well, but when I got to the field, I broke a drive belt and had to run to Rice Lake for a new one. Saw a bear sitting along the road right after I left the cabin so that was fun. Looked to be about a 125 pounder. Got home from Rice Lake just in time for Happy Hour at the Creek. Saw the Pearsons, Marlin and just about everyone whose anyone at the Creek and had a real nice visit. Went back to the cabin and jumped on the mower while Charlie fixed dinner. Mowed about a half hour before lightening drove me off the tractor and inside. Had lots of rain, but avoided the bad weather which did popped up all around the area. We are getting a bad wash on the hill and lower driveway and I’m going to have to see about getting some gravel spread. Got up fairly late on Wed morning and after a brunch headed to Largon Lake to try the Bluegills. They were biting very nicely in about 8 feet of water. Caught 16 keepers in the 8-9 inch range and threw back probably twice as many in the 6-7 inch range. Caught 5 huge Bullheads in the 2 pound range and released them. Really were fun on our ultra-lites. I had brought Sammy's retrieving dummy along and decided to give her a few tries, hadn’t worked with her for over a year. Was very pleased with her efforts. Sat and waited to be released and sat and delivered to hand. Guess I'll have to spend a little more time with her before bird season. Went to County Line Tavern for chicken on Wed. nite and ran into Gerry Denver and Robin. Had a real nice visit with them. Don't get to see them too often lately. Had three mice in the traps, which I reset and baited again. No sign of mice in the steel shed since foaming all the holes shut. All in all a good trip. As usual it was a little short, but we'll make up for that when hunting season starts. Catch you later.
