Well the Spring Turkey Hunt is in the books, and it wasn't real pretty. I had the first period, and was accompanied by Weasels Terry and Daffy. The weather was terrible and it probably rained 50% of the time. We got to camp Tues night and with so much rain predicted, we decided to go to the Creek on Tues night and then park the truck until it was time to come home. Turned out to be a smart move. We were in the blind early Wed. morning, but could not get anything to respond to our calls. About noon the radar showed heavy rain coming in, so we headed for camp and not a minute too soon. It rained all afternoon and most of the night. We headed out early on Thursday morning and got two Toms to respond. They were with hens and we could not get them to come in. We returned to the cabin about noon, ate lunch and headed home. When we got home, I checked our trail camera and found that two Toms had come in late afternoon. Probably the ones we had been talking to in the morning. As I have said before, a good trip isn't measured by what you kill. Terry and I had a great time. Lots of laughs, saw a bear and a couple of eagles and ate pretty good. Would do it again in a flash. I have a ler tag also, and am keeping an eye on the weather before committing. Safe hunting to all of you, and remember Life is Good, even better if your a weasel.
